Michael (Mike) Boehm leads efforts across the University of Nebraska system for all agricultural, natural resources, rural economic prosperity and related affairs. He holds the dual role of Harlan Vice Chancellor for the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and vice president for Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska.

In all, he is responsible for more than 1,800 full-time employees including 650 faculty and 1,200 staff. Boehm serves as a member of the Nebraska Innovation Campus Development Corporation Board, the Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard Educational Foundation Inc. and the NUtech Ventures Board.

He is an authority on the integrated management of turfgrass diseases with a focus on the ecology and management of fungal diseases. He has also worked on the integrated management of Fusarium head blight of wheat with a focus on the development of biological control strategies for this economically important and challenging disease. He is widely published, holds five U.S. and 30 international patents related to his work on the biocontrol of Fusarium head blight, and has secured significant external funding in support of his personal research. In 2013, Boehm was president of the American Phytopathological Society, the world's leading scientific organization for plant pathology.
